Introduction:
Used for the cultivation of a wide variety of microorganisms, especially common aerobic and facultatively anaerobic bacteria. It is a complex, general purpose medium that is routinely used to grow certain pathogenic bacteria, which tend to have high nutritional requirements (i.e., they are fastidious).
This medium contains digest of casein (tryptone), which provides amino acids and other nitrogenous substances, making it a highly nutritious medium for a variety of organisms, including most pathogenic bacteria. Sodium chloride is added to maintain the osmotic equilibrium.Synonyms: Soybean-Casein Digest; TSB
